InFocus 2025 Theme
Light & Shadow
We are excited to announce the InFocus Photo Exhibit 2025 theme: “Light & Shadow”
This is an open call for photography submissions for our 11th annual exhibition. This exhibit will explore the captivating interplay between light and shadow, showcasing the dramatic contrasts, subtle nuances, and evocative moods they create.
Submission Guidelines:
- Theme: Your submissions should creatively interpret the theme of “Light & Shadow.” We welcome a wide range of styles and approaches, from stark contrasts to delicate gradients, from natural light to artificial sources, and from realistic to abstract compositions.
- Eligibility: This call is open to photographers of all levels and from anywhere around the world. We encourage diversity and are excited to see various perspectives and interpretations of the theme.
- Deadline: October 15, 2024
- Selection Process: Submissions will be reviewed by our distinguished curator, Alexis Marie Chute. Selected photographers will be notified by two weeks following the submission deadline.
- Exhibition Details: The exhibition will be held at Wild Skies Art Gallery and the Red Brick Common Public Art Gallery during the months of February, March, and April 2025 with an opening party in February.

Terms of Submission and Participation
Submission Instructions:
- Please fill out the form completely to be eligible for InFocus Photo Exhibit 2025.
- NOTE: We recommend that you use either Firefox or Chrome browsers when submitting.
- There is no limit to the number of images submitted.
- No submissions will be accepted after Tuesday, October 15, 2024 (MST).

File Size and Naming:
All images submitted MUST meet the following criteria:
- File size: all submitted images should be no more than 3 MB each
- Images must be in JPG format.
- File name: Your file names must adhere to the following requirement: photographer’s last name followed by an underscore and then the image title.
For example, Jane Smith’s photograph called “Sunset Days” should be named: smith_sunsetdays
Photo File Usages:
- Photographers retain all rights to their photographs.
- Photographers accepted into InFocus, give permission for digital image files to be used for press, publicity and marketing purposes. Some of the selected images will be displayed and promoted on InFocusPhoto.ca and across InFocus social media platforms.
Artist Fees and Commission:
- No artist fees will be paid for exhibition but all photographers are encouraged to price their work for sale during the exhibition.
- All sales will be completed through InFocus.
- Photographers will earn 60% of all sales made during the exhibition and a commission of 40% will be earned by InFocus.
- An honorarium will be paid to all photographers accepted into the photo book.
Printing & Framing for Exhibit:
- All successful photographs must be prepared professionally (framed print, printed on canvas, metal print, etc) and prepared for hanging (wired, sawtooth hanger, etc). If clarification about how the work will be prepared, please contact us.
Photographers can either:
- Handle the printing and framing of their photos and deliver in person or by courier to InFocus, OR
- Arrange for InFocus to handle the printing and framing with the exhibition printing partner Pixportal.
The skilled and experienced printers at Pixportal produce excellent printed images, as well as offering a selection of mating and framing options. Please contact Pixportal directly (https://www.pixportal.ca, 1-877-771-9696). Pixportal can also deliver your framed photographs to the exhibition.
Standard Release:
InFocus Photography Exhibition and Awards reserves the right to decline work that, in the curator’s judgement, does not match the online image submission requirements, fit the theme of the show, or any other reason.
InFocus Photo reserves the right to display, reproduce and publish in any media, any entry, without payment beyond the 60% earned on the sale of the work from the gallery space, for the sole purpose of the InFocus Photography Exhibition – this year and in future – and its promotion, publicity and marketing. No copyright is transferred to InFocus in respect of any photographs submitted or accepted. Each photographer that submits will be deemed to warrant that they own the entire copyright for the work or that they have permission from the licensee and/or copyright owner(s) for the uses. All relevant clearances and/or model releases must have been obtained for the use of the photographs for publication and exhibition.
